Where is the best place to get DVD DL disks? Which brand is the best and most reliable? And do DVD DL have a hard problem play in all dvd players?

Do not use anything other than Verbatim DVD+R DL. It is more compatible than any other brand or type of double layer DVD. And do not burn the DL discs with anything other than ImgBurn. It is freeware that be found in the Tools section of this site.

This is not one person's opinion. Just search the forum posts on this site for the undisputed evidence from the experiences of many others. Just remember: Verbatim, +R DL (NOT -R DL), and ImgBurn (not Nero or anything else).

I agree with filmboss80. People who don't use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs post here asking why their burns don't work. People who don't use ImgBurn run the risk of making coasters.

Yes, some older DVD players may not play DL discs very well. They should be fine on any recently made DVD player though, but if you have some DVD player that is 5+ years old, you may or may not have problems.

Even with Verbatim it's best to get the ones made in Singapore (MIS) and avoid the ones made in India (MII). FYI Sam's has Verbatim 50 packs for around $60 with MIS or MII which varies by location; go to http://club.cdfreaks.com/f58/verbatim-dls-sams-club-244555/ to see more discussion on this Sam's deal.
