  1. How easily can it be done?
Are there any guides out there for this specifically ?

I have a multiregion player... however I want to give it a shot and see if it can be done for sake of learning.

I am an novice DVD ripper HOWEVER I am not asking for someone to spoon feed me complete instructions.

Just point me in a direction... like
    Use Smart ripper
    Use "xxxxx" Set "xxxx"
    Re-Encode with "xxxxxx"

    I'll spend the time fiddling.....

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

  3. How hard? Pretty hard!

What I would suggest is the following (hopefully the search function will be working again soon):

Search for information or find a guide about ripping (if you're not already comfortable with it).

Then search for PAL to NSTC or vice versa in the forum - you'll find plenty.

In conjunction with the previous, find and follow a guide for DVD to DVD-R conversions - most movies will be on dual-layer discs, and DVD-Rs aren't dual-layer.

    Hope this gets you started!

  4. Rip with smartripper
get d2v and wav with DVD2AVI
use d2v in TMPGenc to make 29.97 fps ntsc m2v file.
use bitrate calculator to know what rate to encode at, based on the length, and desired filesize (disc size - 400mb - wav)
make a few menu pages and buttons
stick m2v and wav into dvd authoring program
    burn.
    enjoy.

Thank you Mijman... this is what I needed.

    One other question...
Is there a way I could burn the dvdr with the original menus etc intact?
The source disc that I am ripping is under 4.7gb so all of it should fit back onto a dvdr

I wanted make a clone of the disc ....just in NTSC format rather than PAL.

    Any thoughts anyone?
