Here you'll find a hack for DZ830W, however only useful if you own a palm, which I unfortunately don't.

Is there any other hack available which will make the DZ830W regionfree?

I don't really own alot of imports, but I do have some.. And I don't really want to have to use my portable Mustek to view imports, when I have this great home theater system sitting around..

I'd really appreciate all help I can get

edit: I may have found a solution myself.. I'll try it out when I get back home in 3 hours, then keep you all posted here.
Judging from the many views, I must assume I'm not the only one interested in making this work..

Sony players aren't known for being "hack friendly". My brother owned a Sony DVD player a few years ago and eventually replaced it, but based on his experience I'd never buy one.

Anyway, the hack works because the Palm can do IR. IR is the key. Unfortunately the software is only available for the Palm. There may not be another solution for you. All players can't be hacked and even those that can may have hardware changes by the manufacturer that break hacks that used to work.

Well, in an hour I'll attempt this solution I've found for winsamp..
Yes, the palm has IR.. But so does hundreds of different other PDAs which doesn't run PalmOS.. And alot of laptops too..

I actually believed my player was region-free... Untill I received the Gummi Bears vol. 1 (R1) a week ago.

But with a little luck, my player should be hacked soon

edit: Does anyone have a little bit of luck I can borrow? I seem to have lost mine..

You can always rip and re-burn the R1 DVD to solve the problem if your attempt to hack doesn't work. Ripping will remove the region protection.

    Yeah, I know jman.
I already did that.. But I feel a copy will ruin my collection of nearly 900 original dvds...

Just call me crazy, but that's how I feel about copies.. They ruin films..

Straight copies are no different than the originals.

The only time this isn't the case is when you alter the data to squeeze it onto SL media.

A copy is still a copy.. And as such a disgrace to my collection..

That's simply how I feel about it.
