I have read a bunch of forums where people claim the best way to capture analog video (VCR, TV, etc..) is to use the DV-camcorder pass thru to a firewire port. I don't have a DV-cam, but saw that Sony makes the DVMC-DA2. This looks like a very promising device. In fact, I have yet to read one user who was disatisfied with the analog video capture quality. I am interested in making high viewing quality VCDs and was thinking of purchasing the unit. Dazzle's Hollywood DV bridge looks similar (although I have read many more negative reports about it). Have any of you guys had experiences with these type of products? And, do you think they really are better analog video capture devices than some of the comparably priced vid capture cards (~300 dollars)? Once again, I really appreciate your help and advice

I've been VERY satisfied with the results of using a Sony trv120 DVcam with my vcr. It's given me pretty nice results!
I'm not sure about the programs or whatever, but hey! i like this way a lot, and i don't a need for change

I have a camcorder and the erslut are good, but I got tired of connecting and disconnecting the DV camcorder.
I just picked up a Sony DVMC-DA2, and it works great. If you wanna do captures, I would definately suggest it
