Greetings all,
Much like Yoda's thread, I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for Wii games.
I just picked one up. Been playing the Wii sports pretty regularly. I like it. Its very simple, the controls are simple and its a lot of fun to "get into" with the actual movements.
Anyone else got some ideas as to what may be fun? Anything to stay away from?
Thanks everyone.
LG

We just got ours and we enjoy the Wii sports too. I bought Wii Play also. The remote by itself is $45 and the "Play" pack was $60 for 9 games with the wifi remote. These are not high end games many are for young kids to young teens, like a shape matching game, pool, a simple fishing contest, a cow race, target shooting, tank shooting etc.. but I was going to buy a second remote anyway so for $15 more it was worth it. I expected better but the grandkids really like it.
We also got Super Paper Mario but we haven't played with it much yet so can't recommend if it's worth buying it or not but it's not my type of game anyway.
A bit ot:
All in all I'll stick with the Wii and keep buying games for the sake of the family but I'm disappointed with the offerings. Everything so far has a kiddy look. I expected more detailed graphics. It's not just the 480i or 480p with some games but I've seen better graphics on simple computer games. The big plus which makes you forget the shortcomings is the interactive play. Pitching, batting, bowling, etc... swinging the wifi remote is much more realistic than pushing butttons with your thumbs.
My wife wanted the Wii and I didn't know if the ps3 and the xbox had similar interactive functions but I'll probably buy myself a PS3 just so I can have a Blu-Ray player. If I can play an interactive golf game too that would be a bonus. -
You should of course don't miss the new game wii fit, came out 5/19. It is so popular that many stores are out of stock for it, yesterday I searched for it from amazon, bestbuy and buy.com, alll of them are out of stock. But I am very gald to find a deal on the Wii Fit with Balance Board Nintendo for $90. It is truely a great game.

if you go wee on a wii will it wilt
sorry...just had too wee on the wii -
I have Zelda Twilight, Red Steel, TMNT, Zapper w/ Zelda cross training bow game, Excite Truck and Super Mario Galaxy.
SMG is definitely a lot of fun. I really haven't played the Wii in a long time. Mostly HALO and now HEAVENLY SWORD PS3.
Excite Truck is good but not very deep obviously. I would recommend getting a couple of Satriani tracks on a sd card and play them. Better then the in game music which is Satriani-esque but where's thin after awhile.
I did see MARIO KART at the store and looks fun.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Conquest10,
No Zelda or Metriod in that list? Best of the best. Had some tough times with some Zelda bosses but the game play is absolutely fantastic with those controllers. Couple of tough mini-games. Metroid boses on the other hand I found on the easy side, compared to Prime and Echoes on Gamecube anyway (want to talk about some tough games - for me anyway). Went back and did it on difficlut/hard for a little more challange. Neither Zelda or Metroid are any kids games...good game play, controls, side games...
Damn. Now I'll have to go play them again...
Lucifers_Ghost,
After those two, SMG is a blast. Only found two of the green stars though... fun mini-games and races. Make sure you learn how to long jump...
Wii Sports is still fun to just play a couple of games if time permits. Boxing's a good workout if you get into it.
We're all Mario Kart junkies but haven't picked it up for Wii yet. Though, father's day is coming up...
Wii play was worth it with the extra controller. Has a duck-hunt like game. Cow racing is a BLAST! I've never laughed so hard playing such a stupid game...very addicting. Especially with friends over and after a couple of 'happy juices'.
Do yourself a favor and get a couple sets of rechargable batteries to rotate through. Or, we got a Nyco charger that the controllers just sit in when not in use to charge up.
Oh, if you have an hdtv, you HAVE to pick up the component cable. Setting the console to 480p and widescreen is a must!Have a good one,

Wow. Thanks for all the responses folks. I verrrry much appreciate it.
Since my post, I have picked up the following:
A Wii Play - the extra remote and the 9 games, while a bit silly, was worth it. The cow game IS pretty fun. The tank game is nostalgic, as is the dunk hunt.
I picked up a charger by Nyco as well. It works pretty well. Charges fairly quickly and lasts a long time.
I ALSO picked up a component cable a few days after I got the wii (May 18th). It looks awesome. I only have a 43" Toshiba projection but it already looks better than on RCA. Next stop, an LCD or plasma :P
In terms of games, I picked up Transformers and Spiderman 3 as they were used and cost $10 each. I figured, why not. Both games are fun but I would expect a limited shelf life. Also picked up SMG (also used). Its a blast. Right now its mostly the mrs. that plays but I'll get into it eventually. I figure I will get most of my games used from video stores and such.
My friend will be lending me Star Wars lego. It looks awesome. The Wii sports is a blast as well. I love playing tennis and boxing. I find that the controls are sometimes non-responsive/"off" (ie. In tennis, you swing but its delayed) but that is to be expected from time to time I guess.
I'm looking at the games on this list. Just by having read reviews and such, they look decent enough to buy. Opinions?
Dragon Blade: Wrath of Fire
Guitar Hero
Mario Cart
Heatseeker
Iron Man
Zelda: Twilight Princess
Lego Indiana Jones
Looney Toons
Marvel Alliance
Medal of Honor: Heroes 2
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption
Mortal Kombat
Need for Speed: Carbon
Resident Evil: Umbrella
Scarface: World is Yours
Star Trek Conquest
Top Spin Tennis 3
Wii Fit
WWE Smackdown -
Whats this star trek conquest??? A star trek game for the wii?? Do you get to use the remote to shoot your phaser???? Sounds cool if it is.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
every GameCube game ever made (good luck finding GC controllers though...)
House of the Dead
Ghost Squad
