    Hello,

I am trying to capture audio/video from my TV to my laptop. I am using the ADS DVD Xpress DX2 product which connects to my laptops USB 2.0 port. My laptop has 256 Video RAM whichis shard w/ my system RAM (4 GIG). I've heard that causes problems, but want to post here to you guys opinions. Also, I'm using a 16 ft. S-Vid cable and 16 foot USB cable.

Everytime I capture video it works like a charm until right about the 7 minutes mark. The video will continue to capture but the audio completely drops. I can still hear it in the capture software (CapWiz), but when I play it back it goes silent.

Is this a common issue with a known fix? I'd be happy to provide more detailed information on my laptop, codecs, etc. if needed. First, I wanted to see if anyone who has experience in this area could just say "Oh ya, thats because.......". I'm willing to spend an extra couple hundred dollars on a higher capture device, but don't want to waste my time if its due my laptop or some other issue that can't be corected by simply purchasing a high quality capture device.

Thanks in advance for your time.

sounds like it's filling some cache up...but if you heard it causes problems, try a configuration that won't

I just recorded 25 minutes in DVIX (MPEG-4) without any problems. All previous times I had been using the DVD (MPEG-2) option. So 4 out of 4 times it bombs out right around 7 minutes using DVD (MPEG-2) and 1 out of 1 times it worked fine for 25 minutes using the DIVX (MPEG-4) option.

To me, this now seems like a driver issue and I can safely rule out cable length, faulty hardware device, etc. Would you agree?

well, for long sustained caps, you need to cap to a separate hard drive
perhaps this would help in the config, too

What do you mean "in the config"? Are you saying most people will lose audio if they capture for more than 7 minutes or so on the same hard drive? Seems a bit short but I'm no expert.

I currently I have only have 1 internal hard drive. Would an external USB hard drive cause a bottleneck when capturing or would that be OK?

    Thanks...

I had the same problem and i solve it uninstaling Ulead Video Studio, some DLL is used for CapWis and when you install Video Studio replace that file and then always capture only 6min, i found out this after uninstall windows and reinstall all again then the capwis works find then when i install Ulead Video Studio fails in sound capturing.

I hope this solve your issue.
