    Hi,
Dl'ed a very well known movie about small people and a shiny circular object.

It's svcd format. 4 files total. file 1 is 794 MB. How do they expect that to fit on 1 80 min/700MB cd ? Am i supposed to use a 90 Min/800 MB cd ?

  2. VCD and SVCD handle file sizes differently. You can fit 74 minutes of VCD or SVCD on a 650 MB CD-R (so that would be a file size of 740 MB) so, you can fit 80 minutes or 800 MB of data on a 700 MB CD-R...so, in short, just burn the damn thing...it'll work. You shouldn't even need to overburn.

  3. lol , are you sure? Some how I couldn't get Nero to take in the 794MB on a 80min Media either. So, what do I need to do to burn this darn thing

  4. You have to burn it as a svcd. otherwise nero will just handle it as a standard data rom disc.
when the nero wizardthing pops up, just select SVCD and drag the mpg over. nero will check it throug and the you can burn it

  5. mmmmm...tried that..and nero still think I didn't have enough space to burn it. I tried the overburn option but still no good.

  6. Overburning with Nero depends on the type of CDR/W you use, I have two systems one with LG Burner and one with HP Burner, on the HP Nero will ask for Overburn, even with anything over 74min on 80 min CD, even if it's 78 min.....the LG will not ask it will just burn anything under 80 min, if I go to 82+ mins, Nero will ask for Overburn. The both will burn with no problems for VCD/SVCD. At least this is what I get running WIN2000Pro with a ADM 1.7Ghz on Westgern Digital 120 Gb disk (7200rpm). The second system is AMD 1.3 Ghz with Maxtor 100Gb (7200rpm) running WIN2000Pro.

  7. That particular show you are speaking of was released as bin/cue files, which means you just burn using FireBurner or CDRWin on 80min discs.

I guess you got extracted versions. See if you can find the bin/cue versions.

Hmm, somehow my reply didn't show up here....

    Well, I did it !

I burned it but when almost done it gave error about not being able to finalize the disc.

I tried once again, but this time I enabled overburn (82, standard suggestion). I don't know if that did the trick, but I tried burning it again, and this time it worked !

Damn, I would have liked to have known that 40 movies and 80 cd's ago.

BALDRICK, see if you can't emphasize this on the homepage/guides..

    thx Macros746 !
