  1. I just got my new computer running but i ran into some problems running DivX movies on my Tv set with Tha Playa and Windows Media Player. I have a Radeon VE with 64mb. I have some SVCD movies but they turned out great on my TV. Anyone had the same problem that know how to fix this...The cable i am using is a 5m gold plated. Anyone...?? Please help me!

  2. It is not your cable...it is the evil that is Macrosvision. Try this test: run the cable straight to the TV NOT through the VCR...and I bet it will work beautifullly. Fortunately, there is a cure (that worked for me at least) goto doom9.net and goto their download page and there is an ATI macrovision remover file. Use...and watch.....

p.s. if that doesn't work try DVD Genie (you can get it here) I'm not sure if your player is on their but it may be.......

  3. I tried using the Macrovision remover but it could not find the file which it was to disable, i couldn't find it manually neither I am running the movies from my harddrive, how would DVD Genie help me with this..? is it just ati that uses this macrovision crap? or would i have had the same problem if i stuck with a GeForce2-3???

  4. Divx movies shouldn't have Macrovision. It would help if you qualified what youe mean by "some problems".

  5. The Macrosvision remover doesn't work on individual files. Read the notes on how to install it and it 'should' remove Macrovision from the TV-Out of your card. It isn't 'just' something that individual files have.... DVD Genie is a bit of software that alters function on whatever software player you are using to play the movie out to your TV. THAT is why it is useful....though I don't know if it will work with whatever player you are using I do know it works with Powerdvd and Windvd and several others... As to the G3 question...I don't know. While I would love to own a G3 I don't know if they impletment software Macrovision in their cards or not. But READ how to install ATI Macrovision remover...try playing your file again. If that doesn't work try DVD Genie. IF that doesn't work you can buy a macrovision remover box from Radioshack for under 30 bucks or you can try a G3...good luck.

what i mean by "some problems" is that when i run the Divx (.avi) file in any program (win media player, the playa) the picture on my tv screen turns out black. but when i run a VCD or SVCD file the picture perfect. Any suggestions?

I tried running the Ati Macrovision remover several times, but there was no change. The thing is that if i convert the movies with TMPGENC to an .mpg file the picture is great on my tv. I also tried adjusting the settings in PowerDVD with DVDGenie but no change there... =((

  7. Hmmmm....that doesn't sound like Macrosvision. Have you ever successfully run Divx movies on your TV? Or is it just this particular file?

  9. What happens when you run your Divx in a window instead of full screen? Can you see any of your desktop in the background, or is it still a totally black screen?

When i run a divx in a small window i see the desktop in the back...but the window where the divx is playing its nothing but black. Pretty annoying
