NOD32 or Kaspersky would top my list, but AVG Free and Avast! will also run on it.

I've been using Avast on my Vista computers. Seems to work well. I also recommend the Comodo firewall, free and it replaces the worthless Vista firewall.

Sure, along with a router with a firewall.

AVG misses a virus every 1.5month (on average) so how would you know if you use AVG?

I guess I don't surf to the sites you surf to

I've never seen a 'perfect' antivirus package so I do a check up from time to time with Cureit and Trendmicro house call. Then the odd Spybot S&D. So far nothing has ever flagged anything other than when AVG has given me a warning. In my estimation that's good.
