Apologies if this has been posted before, I tried searching but had not found a topic specific to my question or one that was of much help to me. Could someone please point me in the direction of an external capture device which is compatible with Pal-60? I've been searching the net trying to find one myself for some time now but it seems cards that support Pal-60 are rare enough without narrowing my search to external devices only.

The only cards I have found to be compatible with Pal-60 for sure are cards with the Philips SAA713x chipset. I'm unsure if an external device even exists with that chipset. Here is a link with a list of capture cards / devices with the SAA713x chipset.

As the source I want to capture from only outputs in Pal-60 it's made it quite difficult to find an appropriate capture card / device. I would much rather prefer to capture on my laptop in which case I need an external device however if none exists that support Pal-60 I'm happy to settle for an internal PCI card and use it on my low-end PC instead.

Thank you if you take the time to help me out here. It feels like I'm running around in circles searching myself

Are you by any chance trying to capture a NTSC video that has been converted to PAL-60 by your device?

You can capture as NTSC if you have a NTSC player and author a NTSC DVD, most standalone PAL DVD players will play a NTSC disc.

Not likely. Everybody who asks this question and tells us why they want to do it has said that they are trying to record game play and the games they are playing only output a PAL-60 video signal.

From that link you posted, check out the devices that have the BT878 (BT8x8) chip.

You will also need the BTWinCAP driver.

    http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/features.html

from the data for the driver:

"All the videostandards the chipset supports are supported. Don't be surprised if you get a lot more than you were used to with your old driver. Even PAL NCombination (Used in Argentina), PAL60 and NTSC50 are supported. (PAL NC Requires a Bt848A or better, PAL60 and NTSC50 requires a Bt878 or better) "

And it works (for my simple hauppauge Win Tv (pci internal)

Maybe recently as people move away from VHS but there is still a few of them.
