  1. I want to see what the quality is like when i lower the file size, i am trying to get 2 x 43 min eps onto an 80 min disc. Using cbr 1150 i get 43-44 mins on disc.

i also want to have 1 point (chapter?) in between the two so i dont have to watch the first one to see the 2nd one.

Nothing fancy (or complicated please )

So what bitrate should i start off on so not to degrade quality too much and to lessen the files by about 3-4 min each. unless the chapter takes up a lot of space this should be ok, i think.

Thaks for any help, it's much appreciated

  2. first off if you lower the bitrate you no longer hav a VCD, you have an XVCD. you might want to check and make sure your player supports XVCD before you do this.

88 minutes of video (yes i rounded up) onto an 80 minute CD
thats an extra 10% so if the video is 1150 bitrate you need to reduce it 10%. thats 1150 - 115(10% of 1150) = 1035

  3. i put about 90 mins of movie onto one xSvcd last night.. looked pretty dang good i went with 1000 kbps.. 112 audio.. could have gone a tad higher onbitrate but i dont like to play it too close (i can overburn up to 78 mins *talking cd size not movie length*) 80 min cd is about 800 mb of (s)vcd

if you burn it as 2 mpegs and use nero, you will be able to track foward to the second video during playback.

  4. OK, thanks i will try that. 1150 is good so 1000 wont be that bad.

About the playing of the second mpeg, do i just drop them in nero then, no chapters or anything?

Could i do anything else to slightly improve the quality while keeping it down to 1000 kps.

    thanks again.
