    Hi everyone,

I seem to be having a problem playing downloaded videos (XVid, DVIX etc). The audio cuts out for about 2 seconds three or four times (random intervals) during a standard 42 minute episode. I have tried both VLC player and Windows media player, but both have the excact same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  2. What kind of audio? MP3? AC3? GSpot will tell you.

OK I've narrowed down the problem. The PC speakers (5.1) work fine but it's the SPDIF output to my Kenwood stereo receiver that keeps cutting out. Is there an issue with using both at the same time? I am using an onboard Realtek AC 97 sound card. Would switching to a Creative 5.1 card help?

Hard to say where the actual problem lies. At this point, it could be your soundcard, the receiver, or possibly the cable. The only way to know is to start swapping out parts.

  5. What AC3 decoder are you using on the computer? Some have problems. Try another.

I never installed an AC3 decoder, I am just running whatever comes with Win XP media centre edition or VLC. The sound plays fine through the 5.1 speakers that I have, it's just the sound coming through the receiver that cuts out at random intervals.
