    Hi all,
I've stumbled across AVIs that were encoded with XviD, yet manage to be of various sizes. However, I can't seem to change the resolution when I try to encode an AVI. Does anyone know how to define a particular resolution with XviD?

  2. You need an editor with a resizing filter. Try VirtualDub, AviDemux, or AutoGK. All free.

What program are you using to do the encoding? In VirtualDub, use the 'Resize' filter if you want a different framesize, then encode. The Xvid codec itself will take most any framesize you throw at it. (Within a few rules. )

Thanks for the replies, all. I re-discovered the power of AutoGK and that'll apparently work great for me.
    I appreciate the replies.
    Thanks again,

Under Advanced Settings you can set various resizing methods. I usually set a fixed width and let AutoGK work out the rest. Crtl+F9 brings up the hidden settings panel, which gives you even more options, including cropping. There is no way to change the type of resize performed however.

Tried the 'Advanced' settings or the 'CTRL-F9' hidden settings?
