Is there a DVD Authoring software similiar to Photoshop which lets You desaturate or saturate specific colors & sharpen or despeckle the VOB files from old VHS transfers - VideoRedo allows contrast and brightness option very easily, but my old videos are 3rd generation copies and have a lot of red hue and slight grainy texture -- Purchased TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 on a recommendation and found out there is no option for my color adjustments --- Thanks for any assistance
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Those type of adjustments are more common with an encoder, not a authoring program. Either way, you will need to re-encode if you filter or change saturation or color settings. And with re-encoding, you will lose some quality. A better alternative may be to use a color correction device between the VHS deck and the PC and do the filtering in hardware. Maybe a Proc Amp: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Processing_amplifier

I have no problem re-encoding - So which encoder program allows color adjustments as You noted? I am using DVD/VHS combo deck to transfer the films.

MPEG Streamclip will do saturation, brightness, contrast during the encoding process from VOB to something else. Probably MJPEG-B is a good choice as it seems to lose very little in the translation. The app will let you set I/O points so you may run a number of tests to see the results before you decide to run it all.
(I'd like to know other solutions, as well.) -
If they need a lot of work, then you might also have to look at virtualdubmpeg-2 and filters, or avisynth, to really clean them up.

Ulead Video Studio, cyberlink power director, TMPG Express etc.. all pay wares
Just download trial version and try. if you satisfy go ahead and purchase it. -
live4fun, you can just edit a previous post and correct errors instead of posting a add-on.
And I would also recommend looking into VirtualDub, Mpeg-2 or VD Mod flavors. There are many filters available, some specifically for VHS, like: http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/detailed.html#108
Or others listed here: http://www.thedeemon.com/VirtualDubFilters/ OR Here: http://neuron2.net/
You can also frameserve from VD directly to a MPEG-2 encoder to eliminate a in-between file. AVIsynth is a better solution, but a bit more of a learning curve. But recommended if you plan to do a lot of this. -
VirtualDub will be far more advanced than most of the other programs I'm seeing listed here. And best yet, VirtualDub is free to use, unlike the others. Double advantage.
