  1. In the past, I used the 29.97 fps settings with Microsoft DV AVI and rendered titles to video, and results were great. I also applied effects and the result was smooth.

Now I am trying to render on 23.98 fps on Huffyuv digital video and the result is jerky titles whenever they move. This is especially obvious when the titles zoom from the background of the screen to the foreground.

The same is true whenever I do any effects to the screen such as the zoom boxes option under transitions, the result is jerky, almost like frames are being skipped.

    Any ideas?

Are you trying to convert 29.97 DV to 23.976?

  3. Yes, I did that in VirtualDub initially. The video file was originally 29.97 fps and I converted it to 23.976 fps. Then I took that video and added the titles to it in Premiere.

So you threw away 1 frame in 5, and wonder why it's jerky ?

  5. The video itself is perfect. I am talking about the titles, not the video itself.

Like Soopafresh and Guns1inger, I am scratching my head about the conversion from 29.97 to 23.976 fps. You should always try to maintain the integrity of the original footage, if possible. Nevertheless, your issue may also have something to do with field dominance of your titles. How are you creating and generating titles?

In Adobe Premiere, I made the settings at 23.98 fps to accomodate the 23.98 fps video that I am putting the titles on. I render titles on the video using the same settings, then export it also at 23.98 fps. I am not converting the video, the video is already 23.98 fps. After exporting it, I encoded and applied the 2:3 pulldown and authored the DVD, and the result was that the video was fine, but the titles were jerky.

I just discovered how to use 23.98 fps film rate so I hope you don't mind my basic questions.
