I'm using GFD 1.04, set to NTSC, authoring with dvdauthor, WinXP sp3.

My motion menus (with audio) in GFD are stuttering after being built. I believe it is because the M2V is 18.000 sec but the MPA is only 17.928 sec. Does GFD expect them to be the exact same length?

If I get rid of the audio, it doesn't stutter. If I use a muxed MPG that has audio, it doesn't stutter, but GFD ignores the audio.

Video source is NTSC DV AVI (29.97fps), transcoded to MPEG-TS using AVIdemux, demuxed to M2V+MPA using MPEG Streamclip. I also tried ProjectX for demuxing, but same problem. Is there a better demuxer that doesn't make the MPA shorter than the M2V?

    Thanks for any clues...

  2. I think it is more a problem with mplex.
    Some things you can try:
    1. If possible use muxman as authoring engine
    2. Try to transcode your audio to ac3

Muxman solved it! Thank you borax.

FWIW, I tried many variations in GFD using dvdauthor as the engine. GFDDSView showed me different durations for various muxed/demuxed source files, all compressed from the same AVI.

SuperC gave me the best MP2 audio duration, exactly 18.00 sec in GFDDSView. AVIdemux muxed MPG (depending on encoder) showed various 21 or 22 sec durations in GFDDSView. Loading the raw AVI in GFDDSView gave me 18.01 sec duration. None of these combos prevented the stuttering, only switching to Muxman did (even though GFDDSView shows different durations for audio vs. video streams).

Thanks again. BTW, GFD is really great software. You did a great job with it, it's very nicely designed.
