Hello, I am new to encore and I have a question. The manual doesnt really go into what the transcoding settings do or what they are.
Can someone please explain these to me, appreciate it.

As far as I am aware, transcoding will reencode your files, usually when your disc is over the size limit or the file is in the wrong format (can you import incorrect files like WMV into encore - cant recall?) it will transcode it to the correct DVD spec's or to a smaller file size to fit.

So if you do all your production in Premiere or another video editing app it is better to get your final rendered file to DVD specs and in the correct size and import it in to encore rather than let encore transcode as you will be compressing something that has already been compressed and as such loose quality.

I havent used encore for a while but if you post a screen cap of the settings menu I will try to say what each setting does to the best of my knowledge.
