I've been utilitilizing the method of using flbind to append a segment of low bitrate with no audio black to an .flv file to enable a higher bitrate due to YouTube's bitrate averaging. In one example, I find there's a short but nasty metallic "chirp" that appears to be at the point where the two segments are joined.

The black segment is *extremely* low bit rate. Using WinFF, I set the bitrate of the black segment to 1, the frame rate to 1, the size at 40x30, which yields a bit rate of 778 bps per Mediainfo, a file size of 50kb for a segment that's 8:45, the segment I'm appending it to is 2038kbps 480 x 360. I've joined a couple others to a black segment with the same bitrate specs without this issue.

Any idea what could be causing it?

    Thanks

For best results (with any video type), all files that are combined should be the same specs (resolution, bit rate, etc.). It is the changing of bit rate in audio files that is the result of the chirping.

Winff is a conversion tool, not intended for joining video segments. It will take a finished VOB, AVI, MOV, etc,. and convert to .flv for you. But I would not try adding clips or stills using that. That's like trying to use a hammer to do the job of a saw.

As per the topic title, I'm using flvbind to join the segments. I just edited my original post to reiterate that point.

Okie-dokie. Unfamiliar with flvbind, as I edit on DV format before converting down to flv. However, I know that the flvbind guys have a forum that you might find helpful: http://www.moyea.com/forum/
