Hi

4gotten 2 mention the size of the entire file is 7.46GB, which makes the burning process practically impossible since i have never seen a dvd which sizes more than 4.76GB

Touch something that large with dvdshrink, and the quality will truly suffer.
Check what the audio format is first, if its not in ac3 format, consider demuxing into separate streams and re-encoding the audio using besweet, then remux both video and new ac3 audio back using dvdauthorgui.
Consider a max bitrate for audio as 96, which would be ok.
If it then needs a minor tweak with dvdshrink, then fine.
Otherwise consider getting a couple of verbatim dl's, and use imgburn to setup an appropriate layer break, and enjoy when its completed, without having to do any modifications. -
Well, someone here doesn't have a very high opinion of DVDShrink. But I suggest you try it first. It won't cost you anything, and it will take the least amount of time. Then, if your eyeballs can perceive any significant reduction in quality, you can go the other route. I have been pleasantly surprised at how well DVDShrink compresses larger DVDs. As mentioned by jman98, there are dual-layer discs that can handle the full 7.46GB. See if your burner will do DL burns. If so, use Verbatim DVD+R DL discs, and burn with ImgBurn (another great freeware program).

Bjs' suggestions are well intentioned for sure, but I think they are arguably not the way to go here. Consider that the original poster knew nothing about dual layer media. Do you REALLY (be honest here) think that such a person is going to be able to do what you suggest? I doubt it. Anyway, saving audio bitrate makes little difference. It's like spending a thousand dollars for something and looking for a way to save ten dollars on the cost.
DVDShrink is a very user friendly way to do what the original poster needs to do. Also consider too that most people don't belong to forums like this and aren't as sticklers for quality as we are. What DVDShrink produces is almost certainly good enough for the original poster and his business needs. -
thanks for the feedback
i have tried dvdshrink as suggested, but when i open the files (.BUP.IFO and VOB)
The program went on to analyze and it showed me a summary in which the total file size turns out to be 4.6GB
Even though, my blank dvd is of 4.76GB size, the actual figure in computer is 4.38GB.
I've tried to delete the menu and other unnecessary contents, my attempt failed. So,i would like to know how can i trim down the size of my contents,so it would fit my dvd.Hi -
Go to reauthor mode, select main title only, remove unanted audio (and subtitle) tracks in the streams list, and see if you can't get it down to <4.37 GB

DVD Rebuilder with HCEnc is another viable option if Shrink causes too much damage.
