Namely, the following error:
"The procedure entry point RestoredLastError could not be located in the dynamic link
library KERNEL32.dll."
I was looking to have this as an available alternate to the standard Shrink 3.2.015, with its own executable name and shortcut. Is that not possible, and therefore one must uninstall the latter and do a fresh install of just the ImgBurn-calling version ?
I was going to try this a long time ago, but never got around to it. When I did, it seemed like the RAR archive I had downloaded might have been corrupt. So I found a different source
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/Guides/Software2.html
but this error continues.
Incidentally, I just came across this
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1133771#post1133771
but it is probably no cause for excitement or jumping to any conclusions re some "resurrection" of this landmark video tool.

No one picked up on this question from a week or so back. I thought I might have found an answer here
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/521885
but no dice; I'm stuck with that "Kernel32.DLL" error, even after uninstalling and following the suggested procedure on the re-install. Does anyone have a solution for this ? Could the more recent versions of ImgBurn be the problem ?
I have two downloaded versions of the IB modded Shrink 3.2: one is 1679,360 in size and dated 3/25/06 (this is from that RAR archive), the other is 1683,456 in size, dated 10/26/07. That fact alone seems peculiar to me, because the last stock 3.2 Exe is like 1/3 this size !
I was also surprised that no one picked up on that link, which looked like it could inspire some rumors or speculation about just how "dead" Shrink might actually be. I mean, why inquire about program usage errors at all, at this late date ?When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form. -
Seeker47,
I just checked, and RestoreLastError exists in kernel32 for XP, but not in the version for 98se. If your computer details are up to date (you're using win2k), I would guess that RestoreLastError doesn't exist in the win2k version of kernel32 either. In that case, the modded version of DvdShrink you have is specific to XP (maybe Vista, I don't have a kernel32 for that OS, so I can't check it). Without further modification, the modded DvdShrink you have won't work on anything less than XP.
I read the thread you linked to. It looks like DvdShrink (the human being) is looking to re-use some of his earlier code in a new project (very unlikely to be freeware), and is asking for feedback on possible weak points in the old code, so he can fix the problems before re-using it. Programmers like recycling code. -

Seeker47,
It's my impression that there were no legal shenanigans involved in the decision by DvdShink (the human) to stop further development. I did a quick google on it, and all relevant roads lead to digital-digest, which you may remember was forced to purge a large amount of information (apparently including this topic) from the site following sony's hissy-fit-tantrum over RipIt4Me. -
