Not familiar at all with working/editing VOB files. Usually when I go to make a DVD, I try to have my files in WMV or MPEG format so I can use WMM to edit and create my DVDs.

What is the easiest way to edit your VOB files? I have Nero Ultra 6 and that is a pain to work with. Well maybe it isn't so much a pain but more of a I'm not used to working with that program when it comes to editing. My editing would consist of mainly cutting unwanted video and increasing the audio.

When I go to create a DVD using multiple VOB files, will the DVD play was one continous file (VOB) or will there be a slight pause as it plays from one VOB and starts the other?

Is there a way I can rip a DVD to my HD and have the files come out in either WMV or MPEG and not VOB? I tried both Shrink and Decrypter and the files came out as VOBs.

    Thanks.

VOB2MPG will extract the mpg video and audio titles from inside the VOBs without re-encoding. It can rip directly from an unprotected disc. If the source is copy protected then you have to rip to your HDD first.

VideoRedo or Womble are dedicated mpeg editors that will edit without the need to re-encode the video. WMM, on the other hand, encodes everything - badly - and produces low quality output under most circumstances.

If you have ever watched a commercial DVD you have your answer regarding playback. The DVD spec sets the largest size a single VOB file may be as 1000 MB. Given than most movies are over 5GB in size, they allspan multiple VOBs, yet there are no pauses in playback. If you author correctly, you should not get any pauses.

Personal opinion - there is no place for WMM in the DVD creation process.

LOL, I've heard that quite a few times.
That's all I've known so I never bothered to try anything else.
For what I was using it for (home movies) it does the job.

Plus the one time I tried Adobe Elements, the "Become a Video Expert in One Hour" button didn't work. Boo!!
