    I have some .avi files that i want to convert to dvd so i can watch them on dvd player. I have Quick time Pro 7 and Toast 9 Titanium, when i try to 'drag & drop' into toast it freezes, also when i try to open them in QT it freezes. Does any one know how to resolve this, thanks

    Have you installed Perian? If not, try it and report back.

  3. don't use Toast to convert from 1 video format to another, it never works as advertised and it is very slow when it does work...

    Your statement doesn't reflect my experience with Toast which for me nearly always works as advertised. I haven't done any speed comparisons but that doesn't concern me as long as the quality is good.

    As for Toast freezing when trying to read the AVI, that's a problem with the AVI and I don't know what can repair it.

    1. Download VLC. Use it to open the .avi.

    2. while in VLC, perform an Info on the file,
    and toggle the arrows on Video Stream 0 and Stream 1.
    Post back what VLC says, but I'm betting you'll need
    Perian 1.1 to enable playing in QT and transcoding in Toast....
