I just downloaded the trial version of Cinema Craft SP 2.7 and when I drop my QT Ref into CC SP 2.7, I recieved this error:

Frame size 1920x1080 is not supported

Is CC SP 2.7 not supporting encoding HD contents? I want to encode my HD contents QT Ref file into DVD compatible format so that I can burn them into DVD. Is this error relates to the fact that this is a trial version?

no version of CCE has ever supported HD. try procoder3 or mainconcept reference.

HCenc is a freeware MPEG encoder that really is just as good (well for the most part anyway) as CCE SP and although I've never tried I do know that HCenc supports the 1920x1080 resolution.

HCenc can indeed encode 1920x1080. I have used it to do that many times, but keeping 1920x1080, just at a lower bitrate for space saving (for TV captures I have done). There's an option to produce DVD compatible output, but I have not used that.

Ah, I see. So this software is close to $2,000 but cannot encode HD content? The price seems quite steep for an encoder that cannot encode HD.

Anyway, thanks for all your responses.

If you mean SD DVD for output, you can use CCE SP2 version which supports HD resolution as input:

So, just how much did you pay for your copy? It seems to me that if you were about to fork over $2,000 for it you'd learn about what it can and can't do.

  9. If you are converting HD to SD you can use CCE but you have to resize first. You can use AviSynth to do this -- CCE accepts AviSynth scripts.

Otherwise, the SD limitations are to force you to pay even more for the HD version. TMPGEnc Plus is very old and slow but can encode at HD resolutions.

LOL....You should see the price tags of encoders which do HD Cinemacraft's HD encoder sets you back about 60K
