I can now capture PAL60 (an NTSC tape played with a PAL VCR), but I still have never heard of a recorder that will do it.

  2. So what are then people talking about in this topic if not recorders that can catch an NTSC tape played with a PAL VCR?

I doubt they'll record ANYTHING, if (going by previous posts) we're talking about analogue TV.
They don't transmit analogue TV any more..

As you can see by the dates on this topic, it took me 6 years to find the correct software/hardware combination to capture an NTSC tape through a PAL VCR.
Yes there were a few DVD recorders that were REPORTED (by fellow VideoHelp members) to be able to do this, but you would never find this feature(capturing a quasi signal) listed in any specs for the DVD recorders.....we had to rely on word of mouth from people like victoriabears.

I'm not sure if I mentioned/discovered this before or not so I thought I'd put it in writing just in case I forget it someday:
Today I managed to capture PAL60 with my Hauppauge USB-Live2....this time to HuffyUV using DScaler as my capture software.
I had JUST captured my normal way (via WinTV mentioned above), but it was a problem-child tape so I had to capture some of it lossless....meaning
I'm not sure if WinTV is needed to set up the Hauppauge to capture PAL60.....or if DScaler did it on it's own.
    But hey....it's possible.
