I have a DVD and an external .srt file on my computer. I load the DVD and then load the subtitle file and start playing the DVD, but the subtitles and DVD times don't synchronize. While playing the DVD, the timer on MPlayer starts at 00:00:00 of course, but when it reaches a random number like 00:00:48 or something, it restarts at 00:00:00 but the DVD still continues to play and progress. But this makes the subtitles repeat over and over again, because the timing thinks it keeps resetting. How can I fix this?

  2. What happens in VLC?

How do you know the .srt are the proper ones for that DVD?

I don't know how to load DVDs in VLC

They're not the proper subtitles, but the timing is perfect for the time the subtitles first appear for like 30 seconds or so. The language is synchronized exactly with the text that appears
