Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and I was hoping you could help me.

I am trying to make some backups of my DVDs. I would like to be able to convert them to VCDs so that I can play those and not damage my actual DVDs because people always get a hold of them and scratch them up. I have been able to rip my DVDs using DVD Decryptor, but I have some problems when trying to convert them to a Xvid codec with an AVI file extension. The problems I am having are: Sound sync issues and very annoying sound in the movies, sounds like some kind of glitchy audio tone and you can't hear anything in the video..

If anyone could recommend some tips that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Alex

I would recommend ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter. DVD Decrypter hasn't been updated in several years and won't work on many newer DVDs.

After they are ripped to the hard drive, you could use AutoGK or FairUse Wizard to produce Xvid/DVDs for backup.

VCDs are mostly out of date around here since the price of DVD media is cheap enough most times. If you wanted a better quality backup, just use DVDFab HD Decrypter and DVD Shrink and put them on a DVD. That keeps all the menus if you want them. And it's a lot faster than VCD or Divx encoding. If you really want to use VCD format, someone else can probably give you some tips. I don't use that format anymore.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. Not sure why you want a VCD backup, quality will be very very poor. Why not a DVD backup?

For XviD in .avi, what software have you been using? AutoGK is easy to use and works fairly well.

Another consideration is that DVD decryptor is obsolete and not updated for current copy protections. Your rips might be faulty causing sync problems. Try DVDFab HD Decrypter (free).

EDIT: nice Mr. Redwudz you beat me by 3 sec
