My question is related to the "video processing->User: cropping and padding values..." option. Is there a way to set the padding values globally? As of now, I have to go to each movie clip and set their values, which is somewhat of a hassle when you have 7-10 movie clips.
Thanks

With convertxtodvd 3 you have to do each clip separately unless you have merged them into one titleset.

Thanks for the response.
I have another question, is there a way to make the audio background longer on the main menu? It seems like the length it plays is determined on how long the thumbnail motion is set before it loops, but I don't know how to change that either. -
You cannot change that. It is hardcoded based on the menu template you choose.

No i've never had that issue with subtitles. I also have to correct myself from above. Even if you merge multiple videos into one titleset, you still have to pad/crop each video individually.

As I don't need the menu features, I have mostly stopped using ConvertXtoDVD in favour of the far more flexible and higher quality FAVC. It will let you set the overscan borders for all titles, as will DVD Flick, both of are free. I do keep a copy of ConvertXtoDVD lying around, as it still works well with the occasional file that the others choke on, but using it is now the exception, rather than the rule.

1) It didn't seem to work with AviSynth, I guess you do this in the "add overscan border" in advanced video properties?
2) Is there a way to automatically import the subtitles into DVD Flick when the you add the video? In most applications, if you name the subtitle the same name as the video, it imports the subtitle automatically. Also, I also notice it doesn't recognize the internal subtile in the MKV file I am using to test.
I will download FAVC and will probably have questions about that as well. -
Are you running a 32 or 64 bit operating system ? Unless you are running the 64 bit XP (and you will know, because drivers will be hard to get and buggy), use the 32 bit version.
The specific post you were referring to regarding subtitles was a special case. The OP had been using subtitles to transfer the date and time code information from a DV tape so it could be switched on or off by the user. He had been hoping to get a smooth timecode ticking over the seconds. The nature of subtitles means that this is not possible. For standard text subtitles this isn't an issue, and you should not be getting flickering.
No, DVD Flick and FAVC don't automatically recognise and load subtitles, and neither of them will find subtitles in an MKV file. I have never found this to be an issue because I have found most MKV files to be dodgy and I usually extract and repack them with just the content I am going to convert - video and audio only. I can keep any subs that I might need and load when converting.Read my blog here.
