I just download some documentary film from torrent in HD format, about 900MB.
Can I somehow put this on DVD disc and play on DVD player or it is impossible.
My idea is to see the difference in quality comparing DVD vs HD.

No, standard dvd players doesn't support any hd or h264.
You can put it on a dvd and play on computers/htpcs and some media centers.
