I know this has been talked to death but what I'm asking goes beyond the normal fast forwarding and rewinding. The "Nero fix" does not solve my problem because I need to create a proper SCANDATA.DAT. The file is basically a list of pointers to certain positions in the SVCD.
My DVD player allows me to jump to any point in the movie by supplying the min and sec that I want. My current SVCDs made with Nero and VCDEasy doesn't allow this. I assume it's a limitation of Nero but I believe that VCDEasy can do it, but I don't know how.
The reason I know VCDEasy can do it is because I used a hex editor to view a BIN file from a SVCD I downloaded and found VCDEasy's name in it. This particular SVCD allowed me to not only FF/RW, it also allowed me to jump to any part in the movie.
I'm creating my SVCD MPGs with TMPGEnc. What settings do I have to use in TMPGEnc or VCDEasy or both to get a proper SCANDATA.DAT??

8) Hi!
Nero 5.5.6.4 already have a SCANDATA.DAT.
Still, if you donīt have this version create a file named SCANDATA.DAT, open it with notepad and write SCAN_VCD
Save it and then, when you have Nero open, copy it to EXT folder that will be created on the SVCD/VCD.
PS: TMPGenc 2.xx has a problem that I am seeing with my NINTAUS 9901...when I compress files with it they NEVER do RW/FF. TO do it I have to use TMPGencīs MPEG TOOLS --> Merge&Cut --> cut a second in file and then save it again.
First I thought the problem was NERO (and SCANDATA.DAT) but it isnīt! Itīs TMPGenc problem!
