  1. because it seems like you wouldnt be able to fit too many minutes on 1 cd, considering you cant with minidvd

    It really depends on your bitrates, but I believe at around 2600 kbps Mpeg 1 x 224 Mpeg 2 aud I got around 38 minutes or so....close to an SVCD standard's capacity

  3. If you let video bitrate = 1kbit/s and audio=1kbit/s then you can fit 53,333min on a 80min CDR But the quaility might be poor (assuming it would even play).

    Normally I find that audio=96kbit/s is the lowest I can stand, normally use 128kbit/s. For video it really depends on the source, for a DVD rip w/ multipass VBR I've gone down to 950 and gotten 'good/decent' results. But for stuff I care about ~60min/80min CDR works well for me. That's 2 CDRs/movie (I don't encode the credits).
