Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum so please bear with me.
I have some small .MOV files which I had stupidly recorded in portrait format. Now one can only watch them putting their cheek onto the table.Trying to rotate them by 90 degrees, the only way I found so far is converting them to .AVI with RAD Tools (compressing with DivX) and rotating them with VirtualDub. This causes a considerable loss of image quality. Is there a better way, or if not, which software settings do I have to respect for best results?
Quick Time Pro of course is said to have this functionality, but I saw several postings by dissatisfied clients.
Any help much appreciated.

Try to use... latest VirtualDub with QuickTime input plugin.
Ater set rotate filter, choose and configure video and audio codecs.
Try Xvid video codec, but with default Target quantizer: 4.00 (or less, example 2.00).
Or 'high' Target bitrate - 2500 kbps or more.
BTW
Good to use Avidemux too (but with some exceptions - not all QT codecs supported).

The KMPlayer, SMPlayer and VLC media player have options for rotate video. -
