Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and have been using it for some help that I have greatly needed. I am not new to burning DVDs, but I am only recently getting more and more into it as I am backing up my collection. On certain movies, specifically DVDs being made from .VOB files, the movie seems to skip and glitch, but not through big chunks, just over a frame or two. I have tried to play the movie on several different DVD players. The VOB file its self does not seem to skip anywhere, just the files that are put onto the DVD. If I remove the files from the DVD and place them onto my computer, they still skip at the same place as the DVD does.
I am using a Mac with leopard, encoding with Visual Hub, and burning with Toast 9. If anyone has any ideas as to what could help fix this problem, anything and everything will be appreciated.

Tried different DVD media? That's the most common cause of that problem and the easiest to fix. Try some Verbatim DVD - media.
And welcome to our forums. -
I looked up the media code, and it seems to be one of the better media out there.

Fluffin,
If the original file(s) are fine, but those same file(s) are damaged by burning a copy, there are only two things that could be the cause...the media or the burner. It's a lot cheaper to eliminate the media as the source of the problem (by trying better media), than to eliminate the burner as the source of the problem (by getting another burner).
At nomorecoasters.com, RICOHJPNR03 is rated as second class media. Verbatim is an example of first class media that is readily available. If using Verbatim media fixes the problem, the RICOHJPNR03 disks are the problem...if the problem still exists using Verbatim, you probably need a new burner.
For an alternative approach, you can try burning the RICOHJPNR03 at a lower speed. It's more of a workaround than a fix, but sometimes it helps, particularly if you were burning fast. -
The RICOHJPNRO3 is decent to use if you use a dvd burner that uses Media Code Speed Edit. My SAMSUNG S203B drive (using MCSE) has decent burns with the RICOHJPNR03 media id.

Thanks very much guys, Im going to try some new media and see if that works. At the time I didn't do my research on the media I was buying. Buying a new burner is sortof out of the question, as I am running on a Mac Book, but thank you for the tip.
