I am working on a movie. It is widescreen. But for one part I need a clip from the web. I got the clip but it isnt widescreen.
So I was wondering if there is a way to letterbox the clip to mach with the widescreen movie.
I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8 Platinum.
    Please help.

If you want to match true 16:9 footage then you need to crop and resize. You can use a mixture of event pan and crop and track motion to do this.

Vegas ships with a pretty good set of help files.

The two basic steps you need to do are

    1. Use Event Pan and Crop to crop your full screen footage to 1.778 : 1. Assuming you are working in NTSC format, this would be cropping 60 lines form the top and 60 from the bottom

    2. Use Track Motion to resize the footage vertically back to 480 lines.
