  1. I'm ripping from a dvd source that is 29.97 fps, but dvd2avi shows that frames switch from progressive to interlaced continuously. If I use IVTC the playback is nasty, (lots of telecining) however if i use the force film option to force @ 23.967 playback is better after encoding at 29.97fps. Some breakup still occurs in high motion parts of the svcd (instead of telecined frames, but its not as frequent as the TC seen using other option) If anyone knows how I can I can make the playback smoother please do post something anything! Ripping, Encoding of video info as follows:

    Smartripper -> DVD2AVI (forcefilm on) -> vFapi ->V-Dub

    (adding subtitles) -> Frsrv to TMPGENC (settings as follows)

    *1357 Bitrate (25 min movie) *29.97 fps *NTSC *CBR *Interlaced *Source set to interlaced *Field order bottom first *sys stream set to SVCD VBR
    -> Muxing with BBmpeg
    *Stream settings for SVCD set at defualt values.

  3. Well if you force film you NEED to encode at 23.976 fps and enable 3:2 pulldown on playback. Otherwise it will be jumpy because 1 out of each 4 frames is getting duplicated.

  4. What wildcatfan said. However, if you do your own IVTC, it should not be jumpy either, but you have to also encode at 23.976 and enable 3:2 pulldown on playback.

    TMPGEnc's IVTC is not bad, but you still have to scan through the movie and see if it got confused across a scene change, especially in movies with special effects.
