    I'm frustrated, can't get it in, doesn't work the way it's suppose to....you get the point! lol All joking aside here's the deal;

    I'm not a complete n00b but I'm definitely no expert. I've used various freeware proggies like WinAVI and Diko etcetera and only lightly dabbled in others e.g. TMPEGnc. I have a bunch of x264 files that I want to convert to DVD to playback on my standalone. I've used WinAVI and seem to have okay results, but I was wondering if there is a better method using another piece of software perhaps that can do a better job quality wise? I'm using DL discs so I have more headroom. Any suggestions? If this is in the wrong section I apologies, please move accordingly. Thanks in advance.

    FAVC! Or maybe ConvertXtoDVD.

    ANd I changed your subject. Please at least add something that describes the main problem.

    TYVM! I'm trying that now actually! Seems good, I was quite surprised how good WinAVI did, it was only DVD quality in the end, but I knew it would. When I watch HD content I just use my comp, but I want to take these over to my pops house and he has a bigger screen than mine and converted avi's look crappy. Hopefuly this will work better. Keep the suggestions coming. THANKS ALL!

    Actually one more important question; Regarding FAVC, what bitrate should I use?? I'm using 9600 right now. Lower, higher? Thanks.

    You need to use a bitrate calculator like this one ---> CLICK HERE

    It all depends on how long they are (the running time). In short you probably do not want to put more than 2 hours on a DVD disc (give or take). That's assuming you are using a single layer DVD disc.

    Now you can go longer and still get acceptable quality but I would say that 2 1/2 hours would be about it ... if using Full D1 resolution (720x480 NTSC or 720x576 PAL).

    If you want to go over 2 1/2 hours then I would use Half D1 resolution (352x480 NTSC or 352x576 PAL) and when using Half D1 resolution you can easily go 3 to 4 hours with 3 hours to 3 1/2 hours being the "sweet spot" as far as I am concerned.

    Wow, that little eh? I guess the most would 4 episodes max? They're about 45min each give or take. Would WinAVI be okay for that? What settings? Or I could use something else. Thanks.

    Really weird, FAVC just stopped in the middle of conversion!? For no reason it seems. Has this been known to happen?

    Not frequently.

    Perhaps your overclock is unstable (4Ghz WC in your sig). What are your load temps at? What are you running your memory at (divider)?

    Was there an error log for FAVC?

    Do you have the 64-bit version of avisynth and FAVC installed? .net framework installed?

    My OC is stable, did 72 hours Prime95 over the weekend. Idle temps @ 40C load around 60 - 65C, my RAM is @ 5-5-5-12 2T.

    No, it just "finished", but when I checked the folder it was about 25% complete. Yes to the last question, latest drivers (x64) etcetera. It's a moot point ATM, I used ConvertXtoDVD and WOW! lol I'm shocked at how easy and efficient it is!
