Alright I got this new Mp4 Player
    http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info....deo-camera-2gb/

Something Like that.. Well Every time I try and convert anything to AVI and i put it on there it doesn't work... The software that it came with was in a differnt language...

I tried comparing My avi files with an AVI file that was on there that works... And the only thing thats different is like the Bitrate mine is like 6 and his is like 128.. I dont see that causing the problem..

Here are the two files the one that works on the Ipod is System of a Down - Lonely Day.avi, and the one that doesn't work is the Keyboard kid.avi so can someone please check them out and tell me how do i get any of my files like AVI or a MP4 files to what the mp4 player needs?

    Welcome to VideoHelp!
    1) Your link doesn't work (to the player specs)
    2) Load the 2 AVI files in GSpot, and post screen shots here. That may give us a clue as to what differs, and what makes one work, and one not.

  4. The one that works is Xvid. The one that doesn't work is Divx4 (Open Divx). Encode with Xvid instead. The file that works contains no B frames. Encode without B frames until you've determined whether or not B frames are allowed. Try the Simple @L2 or Simple @L3 templates first.

Audio is likely a problem too. The file that works is 44.1 Khz, 128 kbps MP2. The one that doesn't work is 22.05 Khz, 8 kbps MP3. Any of those parameters could be the problem.

No because it is in a differnt language.. But ill try again one more time converting an AVI using that program... I can't Do it right now because i dont have access to the player at the moment. I just thought if there is a software t hat will give me the same output as the one that works.

I have a question.. If i found the program that came with it works.. Can i have any movie let says it is dvd quality xvid avi if used the program to convert it to work with my ipod... I know it lowers the resolution.. Does it make the file smaller? or does it keep it the same?

  9. The players usually come with conversion software that works pretty well. I have a Rockchip Based player from UXcell. The video files are 20fps, pal, xvid at about 600kbps.

Here is a link to UXCell's website for the converter that came with my player:
    http://www.uxcell.com/public/mp4/AVIConverter_ENG_CHN_JAP_V5.1.0_Setup.exe

It usues Memcoder to do the encoding, quality overall is pretty good. There is an .ini file in the program folder that you can use to edit the basic settings.
There are more useful tools at the MyMPXplayer forum: http://www.mympxplayer.org/portal.php

    Hope this helps some.

Okay will I understand but.. If i convert a video that is lets say 700MB and the reslotuion is like 1280 X 900 and lets say my converter converts it to 320 x 280.. Will the size of the video decrease or will it stay the same? what about quality?

  11. Not sure which player you have but generally speaking these are not high quality players.
General rule is: As the bitrate goes down the quality goes down. Others here can certainly explain it better than I, but you still may find it acceptable on the screen of the device you have.

I have a 600mb mpeg file squashed to a 48mb mp4 on my player and it looks acceptable on the 2.4 inch screen (320x240 resolution). Some faster scenes look choppy becaus eof the 20fps conversion.

    Try it out.

file size = bitrate x running time

Every conversion using a lossy codec will result in quality loss. The file size means nothing if the file has been converted a few times. You want to minimize the number of conversions. If you're worried about quality, start from a DVD (or better yet, blu-ray) to convert to your final file.

  14. Resolution is part of quality -- so yes the quality will decrease if you go from 1280x900 to 320x240. Otherwise, the decrease in quality will depend on what settings you use.

The size will depend on what compression codecs (video and audio) are used and what settings are used for those codecs. Very generally, yes, you can expect the file size will be smaller going from 1280x900 to 320x240.

Almost everything is different between the Gspot images you posted. There's no telling which of those differences is responsible for the one file not playing. Especially since we don't know exactly what player you have -- the link in your first message doesn't work.

The software that came with the player should make AVI files that work but you can't use it because you can't read the GUI. I would use VirtualDub or AviDemux to create AVI files for testing but given the paucity of information we have about what is required it's hard to tell you what to try.

    See if this file plays...
    test.avi

For a simple conversion program you can try Divx Converter. Try its Mobile template first. If that works try the Home Theater template. You may have to rename the files it outputs from whatever.divx to whatever.avi.
