Can I watch my 50i HDV on a US HD TV? (I think it may be this damn confusing Panasonic HD TV - I can't see anything - have it on component jack.)

Only on a few US TVs. Most will only display 60Hz content (even HD).

    Cheers,
    David.

Some manufacturers block 50Hz to discourage export. Others don't.

I'm sorry, Hz? The framerate is a reflection of frequency? Interesting. OK. Anyway, the manual says power source 60Hz, and that it displays 60i and 60p. (Should have checked the manual, but videohelp is where I go automatically.)

Now I should have no problem capturing 50i HDV in a Vegas 6 50i HDV project, right? First try and Vegas does not see the camera. Thoughts? Best and thanks,

iirc vegas didn't allow 50i or 60i projects until version 8.

    try using HDVSplit to capture.

You were talking about a TV right? I was assuming you hooked the camcorder directly to the TV using analog component or HDMI. Some US model TV sets accept 50 fps video others don't. Take your camcorder down to Best Buy and see which one's work.

Vegas works with 50i fine. Version 8 is better for HDV especially capture. You can also capture with HDVsplit and then import to Vegas.

Which camcorder and TV models are you using?

Yes, ed, a TV: the Panasonic TH-42PX75U. Manual says 60i and 60p - no mention of 50i. My camera is the HVR-Z1U.

And, yeah, it's like I can have a 50i HDV project in Vegas 6 but can't capture it. I'll try HDVsplit. Although, if I'm using Aspect HD 24p conversion, I think I have to capture with the Aspect HD conversion utility, right? Haven't got that installed yet - is that workable and does it work from Premiere Pro (I have 1.5).

I think Aspect HD directly captures HDV. Check the specs. Neo certainly does.
