    Hi!
A friend of mine has ripped a dvd, Lost-3rd season. These dvd's contain a stronger protection, obligating to use RipIt4me to rip. It was recorded in 8x.
When I played it on my dvd player, on tv, it skipped some sections. I tried in another dvd player, and it just showed the language menu, and when I chose, it "closed" the dvd, I mean, showed the dvd welcome screen.
For my surprise, when I played it on my computer dvd, it played nicely!
Does anybody have a clue on what may have happened?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

Probably dodgy media. Also, if this is more than for educational purposes, there are some copyright legalities to consider in this situation. (Your friend ripping a DVD and giving it to you.)

mats.hogberg: I didn't understand what you wrote about educational purposes.
I don't think it's a media matter, as I did a copy from the copy, and both had the same problem.
I could safely affirm that would be a ripping problem, if the dvd didn't play fine on my computer.
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

It is illegal in most countries, and against the rules of the forum, to discuss pirating of videos. Technically, your friend making a copy of a disc he owns, for you to keep, is considered piracy.

OK, let me spell it out: In most countries (and at this site) being in possession of a backup of a DVD without owning the original is illegal. So, if the reason for you having a copy of a friends DVD is anything besides trying to figure out what's wrong with his backup, you're violating site rules. Am I making myself clear?

I understood. He owns the dvd, and did a backup copy of the disc. He reported me that problem, but as he doesn't know these technical issues, he asked me to help him.
    Could anyone please help me?
    Best regards,
    Joelson.

Computers are usually more tolerant to both bad media and structural errors than standalone players, so media and/or the ripping process are still worth investigating to find the trouble spot.

You have been given the most likely answers already : badly ripped, then burned to low quality media.

Rip again with DVDFab HD Decrypter, and burn to Verbatim or TY media using imgburn.
