I have a ULEAD MOVIE FACTORY 2 STUDIO SUITE DELUXE software program; I would like to install only the Video Studio 7 application on my computer. (Other applications like PicturesShow and DVD Player are useless to me.)

The Installation Wizard only lets me install entire suite or none. I tried to leave Video Studio 7 application by manually by cleaning out the registry of other programs of the bundled suite software. Apparently, I didn’t make a clean uninstall and left bits and pieces of files in the computer.

When you begin this software program, it opens with a splash screen with a choice of different programs. Is there a way to install just Video Studio 7 program cleanly without the other junk program came with it, like say via command line?

Given the age of it, and the bundled nature of the package, I assume it came free with a camera at some point. The easiest solution would be to buy the current version. It had come a long way over the past 4 versions (now up to 11.5)

If you do go through and install that version 7, visit ulead and pickup the two updated dll's ... or saving parts wont work.

I had this problem with Norton System Works 2003 from which I only wanted to install Norton Ghost 2003. I succeeded in installing Ghost only by starting the System Works install, stopping it at the first opportunity, and then execute only the Ghost install program from the Ghost 2003 folder. This may or may not work for your bundle, but it won't hurt to try it.

Is there an option to browse CD on the splash screen? If not, hit Esc and open the CD with Windows Explorer and look for the installation file for Video Studio 7. Maybe this will work.

Thanks for your input everyone; I figured at best it’s a difficult task. I do have much newer video editors, like Vegas but Ulead Video Studio 7 has nice transitions that I can’t find in others. I will try some of the suggestions that was posted when I’m ready to reformat my hard drive; I don’t want to mess up my computer right now by screwing with my registry.

While I was investigating, I ran across creating ISO images from command line. I extrapolated rightly or wrongly that similar thing can be done to extract a single application from software. Note I’m far from an expert in computer software matters.

Just curious, don't PictureShow and DVD Player show up in Add/Remove Programs?

I'd agree with Gunnie, upgrade while you can. Talk to Ulead tech, they are friendly enough.
