I bought a new panasonic SC-HT290 DVD/CD player CD-R/RW playback MP3 Playback.
I was wondering if there is a way to save my home made VHS family video for i can be able to visualise them with my DVD player.
I friend of mine told me that it was not possible but with all the experienced guys over here i give it a try mabe there is a way.

Yes it can be done, you must have a good Video Card that has Video In and Out and S-Video options. Check the Capture Cards listed on this site to get idea of which may work for you. After you get your card, connect your VCR to the card jsut like a TV, start the software your use and you will have your VCd (YOu will have to do other things to get to the final VCD stage, just look at the guides here)

I was looking in the Comparisons to find out more about my DVD player if it was able to take VCD or SCVD or better again XSVCD but is not on the list. I even send a Email to the Panasonic tech support but they don't know what is VCD SVCD ect... :-? -
If you can't find your player on the compatibility list (or can't find the information you want), just burn a short test clip in that format onto a CD-RW and see if it works.
