    Hi,

    Is there a free download that anyone knows of that will enable me to change the files so I can play the DVD's on my player..? I have Windows Vista

    Feed the resulting .AVS files to your favorite mpeg2 encoder and DVD maker. FAVC is a good free one.

    The result looks pretty decent

    There's no way of playing back HD files on a standard DVD player that I know of. There is a way of playing them back on a Blu-Ray disc player but it's complicated.

    If your source format is true AVCHD, as your title suggests, understand that your resulting converted DvD will be of inferior quality.

    Having said that, Soopafresh'es advice will give you something above decent and playable in DvD players.

    If you have a BD player or PS3, then you can retain the higher quality AVCHD by using tools like TSMuxeR and TSRemux and burning it onto a DvD. But you would need a BD player that has the "AVCHD" logo on it.
    I hate VHS. I always did.
