I have a website where I post workout videos for my personal training clients to view. The video files are really large and each time the users want to workout they have to wait a long time for them to download (plus I'm worried about my bandwidth charges). I would like to compress the videos into a file that the user can download and unzip onto their hard drive so that they can view them at any time with no wait and no charges for me. I have a mac and edit the videos in an older version of imovie. Any ideas/help would be so appreciated.

Offhand, I would suggest you uploading your movies to youtube then simply pointing to them on your site with youtube's provided code.
You can read all about youtubes recommended filetypes... -
If you prefer to have the videos on your site then compress them to quicktime mov with for example h264 video codec using quicktime pro or mpeg streamclip.
And I'm moving you to our mac section.
