  1. Hey i am trying to capture my xbox 360 games and record them onto my computer... Now I had it set up at one point and was working but my HD TV had terriable picture because i had it set up with using only composite cables.

I am using a pinniacle movie box capture device, that has svideo/composite inputs and outputs. So with that said i can only capture at standard defination quality, and thats not a problem, i understand that.

The problem is I want to play on an HD picture, while I can capture/record with standard defintion quality.

    What did I do?

I bought a input and output adapter thing hoping this would solve the problem.. I guess the best way to explain this is to tell you my exact current set up thats displaying my HD picture but my capture software is not reading it to record (Pinniacle Studio 11 ultimate)

My 360 component cables are hooked up to input 1 of my adapter
I have component cables hooked up from my adapters output to my TV's input (HD picture is displaying)
*I have composite cables hooked up from my adapters out put to my Capture device input (Not getting signal)
My capture device is connected to my computer with USB

    * Is the problem . . . I thought that i had everyting hooked up correctly, I dont kno what else to try, im pretty sure the settings on my capture software are set accordingly.

Any help and thoughts are greatly appreciated

  2. I tryed finding it but nothing came up, its not a converter or any thing like that its just an adapter that has many inputs, and out puts... I think the problem might be that component cables can only tansfer through other component cables....so thats why it transfers to my TV only....And is why its not trasnfering to my capture device cuz its hooked up ot that via composite as i said, and only has composite inputs.

please tell me i am wrong

When I read your post I came to the same conclusion - because this is just an adapter, and not a converter, you will not get composite output from component input. I would return the adapter and look for something more appropriate.

Before you do, does the adapter have s-video out ? If so, give that a try. It is easier to get s-video out from component in that it is composite out.

I herd this was the only way to be able to play 360 games in HD and record/capture in standard definition.

But yeah i dont even know i'm not good with this kind of thing obviously.. you think the Hava device should work for what im trying to do?

It should be possible. It can downscale HD looped input to SD output.

    Call HAVA to confirm this.

It would seem to. Call HAVA for advice on model. Tell them what you are trying to do.

Go to specs > view > 1: A/V capture base-band inputs (Composite, S-Video, Component) = No go for HD
