So I have this AVI file with 2 audio tracks, the first and default track is in French, the second one is in English.

How do I go about deleting the French audio track and making the English track the default audio.

Someone told me to get MediaInfo but can you really edit info with that? I though it was just to look at information.

    Thanks in advance

Open the avi file in Virtualdubmod. Click on Streams -> Streamlist. Click on the French audio track, then click on Disable (button). Making sure that both video and audio are set to Direct Stream Copy mode, save a new version of the file with only the English audio track (File -> Save AVI as)

Yes, MediaInfo or Gspot is just for information about the file. Depending on the video and audio format, you can probably use VirtualDub Mod to delete the unwanted audio track and save both the audio and video out in 'Direct stream copy' mode. That won't damage the original file as long as you use a different filename and it should only take a short time. VDM has guides on it's tool page, but this is a simple operation.

    And welcome to our forums.

    EDIT: Or what guns1inger said.

You can use the newer versions of Virtualdub to do this also.

Under Audio > Source Audio > choose Stream 2 and Direct Stream Copy both the Audio and Video.

You can click on each audio and hit play to see what the audio is. In .divx files there can be all kinds of audio like directors cuts and extras.

Glad it worked out for you. If you deal with AVI type files, get to know VirtualDub. It has many functions such as editing, encoding, capturing, filtering, frameserving and others. And there are lots of guides available, some on the tool page for the program. Well worth learning.

You can use it for making animated gifs, similar to the avatar I'm using. Just a short series of pictures that repeat. One tutorial: http://www.inat.org/page4.html

All the animated gifs that I create with Virtualdub are corrupted but if I open them with Gif Movie Gear and resave, they're all good.

The UnFREEz program seems to be OK for a free program. I like Gif Movie Gear for it's abilty to make AVIs from GIFs and GIFs from AVIs EDIT: and AVIs from Photoshop PSD files or other images.
