  1. After shilly-shallying between use K-lite Codec Pack and Codec pack All In One and various of single codecs, a little anoying issue has appeared out of it thath im pretty used to, and that is..if choosing windows explorer to show icons as "summarize" the movie files shall originaly view as a black big square from side to side, alternate a preview of the first video frames..you know, this has disappeared perm on my computer and are now just the icon of the primary media player i use

So my question is, is there any known codecs thath generate this in combination with eatchother perhaps?, could it be registry remnant of old codecs on my computer that blocks the standard view?, cause i have restored this before but i hade lucky and don't remember what i did, i know i can fix it by just reinstall OS, but i wanna avoid it

Here is a living a example of what i mean, if you didnt understand the text (understandable)

    Current perm-state on all videos

Wrong! (yes its really sett to summarize)

    Wannabitch normal-state on all videos

    Alternate like this (Preferable not..but)

Is there any solution?..(either than avoiding go to bed )

I'm assuming you are aware of the dangers of system damage from codec packs.

But if I understand what you are describing, first you need to have 'Thumbnails' view selected for your folder. And make sure to look in the 'Folder Options>View' settings to see if they are turned on there. It's probably easiest to just reset all folders to 'default'. If you do, you might want to uncheck 'Hide extensions for known file types' or you won't be able see all your extensions.

But if those settings are correct and they are still showing as blank and you have the proper codecs installed, you've got something wrong with Explorer. Not sure exactly what, but if it happens with all video formats, it may be something in the registry.

You can try re-enabling thumbnail previews by typing this into a command window: regsvr32 shmedia.dll This should reset the thumbnail function.
