  1. Hi,

I have a couple of AVIs with resolution 800x432. I am going to resize them to 720 so that they can be played on DVD(DivX) player. What is the best way to resize it? Should I keep aspect e.g. 720x389? or I can resize to 720x432? Which one will keep original quality?

    Thanks

    Wu

The resize filter in the newer versions of Virtualdub will figure the resolution for you.

Once you get your figure of 720X388.8 you'll need to tick disabled under aspect ratio and change 388.8 to 388 since 720X389 is not a valid resolution. 720X432 will make everyone too tall.

Are you re-encoding to Divx or converting it to DVD ?

  5. Are you sure you have to resize them?

I have a DivX compatible media player that accepts many AVI dimensions and just resizes the display automatically. Granted it's not a DVD player but I think it uses the same Sigma chip for processing

If you are re-encoding with a lossy codec (such as DivX or XviD) none will keep original quality
