    Hi All,

Can someone please tell me why there are 3 identical large files in the video folder on a DVD? Do what do they contain? They all seem to have the same vob video file within. are they combined in some way when the video is rendered?

    confused

  2. You can use PowerDVD to see what is on each VOB.

When you author a DVD, all the audio, video, subtitles, menus etc are put into a structure that uses the VOB container for storage. However a single VOB may not be larger than 1000MB is size, so if a movie is larger than that (and most are), you will get multiple VOB files. If you look at a commercial DVD for something like Godfather II you will find that the main movie spans around 8 VOBs.

You can also look to the upper left on this page for 'WHAT IS' DVD to see the DVD structure, format and specifications. It will tell you what each part of a VIDEO_TS folder is and what's in it.

    And welcome to our forums.
