I did a quick search and didn't really find anything to answer my question about x264.
I have a movie that is a x264/720p encoded movie from a blu-ray disc. I would love to be able to watch this on my new high def LCD tv. But not sure how to convert this into DVD? And will I lose the quality if I do this?
I saw that there are a few DVD players that can play the file but are very expensive.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, you will lose some of the quality. You will have to drop the resolution by around 50% to begin with.
FAVC would be my first choice. If that fails, DVD Flick, then ConvertxtoDVDRead my blog here.

Connect a PC to the LCD via whatever connection (probably VGA) the TV supports. Watch it there. No re-encoding, no quality loss.
