I'm currently looking at this tripod. Anyone ever used one like this before? Any dirt against VariZoom Tripods?

    Thanks for your input.

how heavy is the camera you are going to use?

how high do you want the camera to go?

Bogen Manfrotto is a good brand but pricey

    oh ok my bad

i didn't see that you responded. That tripod looks good; however, as Video Head stated, what type of work are you going to be doing?

I would look for a tripod that at least have the rubber soles.

I agree, Bogen is very good and worth the investment if this is your vocation.

  8. Thank you for all your replys.

I shoot with a Panasonic DVX-100A. I do a lot of corporate, commercial, web video work. I currently have a Vinten Vision 5 tripod, but I'm missing the plate. I was thinking of getting this pod, and if the legs sucked, just replacing the head onto my Vinten pod.

As a experienced shooter, I've learned not to step away for a pod with a camera on it. I've learned that the hard way. Maybe you all have some suggestions of pods I should look at. I do like the Bogen pods, not sure what model to get. I'm trying to stay under $250...that's my budget...I wish I could spend more.

    Thanks in advance.

I'd spend the money on a refurb of that Vinten. They are the RollsRoyce of camera support.

As an experienced shooter you should have known to tell the whole story, the whole story and nothing but the whole story the first time round...nothing like a second take to keep everyone happy...

1/8 inch? Are you sure it's not 1/4 X 20 thread? (most cameras are)...
