First time using DVD-rebuilder today. Went through all three steps: Prepare, encode, rebuild.
    (using CCE SP 2.70)

When finnished...the file in the output folder is 8.59GB. Why wasnt it compressed down to 4GB to fit on a DVDR?

    From the log:

    Reduction Level for DVD-5: 58,0%
    - Overall Bitrate : 2 778Kbs
    - Space for Video : 3 812 224KB
    - Movie improvement from extra reduction = ,0%
    - HIGH/LOW/AVERAGE Cell Bitrates: 3 678/600/2 778 Kbs

In the Settings pulldown, near the bottom do you have "Standard Target Size (DVD5)" checked?

  5. Is this movie really over 3 hours long? Does it have angles, perhaps?

Do you really have CCE SP?
I would think it would look something like this:
    [15:31:28] Phase I, PREPARATION started.
    - CCE SP UNKNOWN encoder selected.
    - VTS_01: 3,847,005 sectors.
-- Scanning and writing .D2V & .AVS files
    -- Processed 183,314 frames.
-- Building .AVS and .ECL files
    - Reduction Level for DVD-5: 60.4%
    - Overall Bitrate : 5,249/4,200Kbs
    - Space for Video : 3,919,526KB
    - HIGH/LOW/TYPICAL Bitrates: 4,765/3,683/4,200 Kbs
[15:35:02] Phase I, PREPARATION completed in 4 minutes.

manono: 189 minutes long, it's the Titanic DVD (PAL), don't know about multiangles.

dialysis1a: I've got CCE SP 2.70. Might be something with the path to the encoder? In Dvd-rebuilder, Options->Setup it says under "Application Paths"
"Path to CCE SP 2.5": since I havent got v.2.5 I put the path to v.2.7...

You can't miss it! On the very first screen on the top it says: File Mode Settings...
Click Settings and on the drop down check "Standard Target Size (DVD5)"

Sorry, I have the pro version and didn't realize the free version doesn't have a Setting dropdown. Suggest posting on the Doom9, DVDrebuilder forum. Jdobbs is a regular there and is the man.

That might be your problem, putting v2.7 where DVD-RB expects to find v2.5? Does the free version even have the option to work with v2.7? Mine doesn't.

Right below where it says path to cce 2.5 you will see "path to cce sp (new)". I would assume that would be the place to put it.

Gotcha. That's where I put the trial version and it runs perfectly from there.
